DeZign for Databases V5.0 ReleasedJANUARY 2008
Datanamic is pleased to announce the release of DeZign for Databases V5.0, its flagship data modeling tool. New in this version is the possibility to compare your data model with the current database structure and selectively choose the changes to apply to your data model. Version 5 also adds support for schemas and enhanced diagramming capabilities such as attribute color coding. Also new with DeZign for Databases 5.0 are customizable data type conversion rules and function conversion rules to improve the accuracy when migrating data models from one database platform to another database platform.

System Requirements and Database SupportDeZign for Databases runs on Win32 platforms including Windows NT, 2000, XP and Vista and requires a minimum of 64MB RAM. Disk space requirement is 6 MB.
DeZign for Databases supports Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MS Access, DB2, InterBase, PostgreSQL, Firebird, Sybase, DBISAM, ElevateDB, Paradox, FoxPro, dBase, Clipper, Pervasive SQL, Informix, MaxDB and NexusDB.

Important Compatibility IssueTo accommodate new functionality, DeZign for Databases V5 introduces a new XML based file format. When you open a project saved in a prior version, DeZign for Databases will automatically make a backup of the old file and upgrade the file to the new file format. The DeZign project file (*.dez) for DeZign for Databases V5 is different than that for prior versions and is not fully backwards compatible.
Answers to Common QuestionsQ: Do I need to uninstall DeZign for Databases V3, V4 before installing DeZign for Databases V5?
A: No, but be sure not to overwrite your previous version installation.
Q: Can I open files created or saved in version 5 with my old version 4.
A: No, see item * Important compatibility issue * above or read it in the manual installed with version 5.
Q: Can I open files created with version 2,3 or 4.
A: Yes. These files will be upgraded automatically. Read the manual for more information.
